The Art of Giving

December 15, 2010

‘Tis the Season! As most of us scramble around for Christmas presents for our loved ones, it got us here at The Wedding Company thinking about all kinds of gifts including wedding gifts! From our experience, here are a few informal do’s and don’ts when it comes to wedding gift shopping.

1. Cash is king – let’s face it, who doesn’t appreciates cash? Just make sure you put it in a beautiful envelope with your name and a thoughtful wedding message clearly written so they know who its from!

2. Do buy something from their wedding gift registry if they have one! Call the shop to send you their list by email to save you time.

3. Think ahead! Do have your gift delivered to the couple before the wedding so that they don’t have to be responsible for a huge pile of valuable gifts on their wedding night

4. If you don’t want to give cash, consider interesting alternatives such as donating to their honeymoon fund or treating the couple to a specific experience like a luxury spa visit or a romantic dinner for two.

And…..if you are the recipient of a wedding gift, do write a hand-written thank you note, people remember.

Oh, and never ever ask people for cash!
