Looking back on 2011

December 31, 2011

2011 was an amazing year for us. A year ago, we moved into our spacious studio in Sheung Wan and when we unpacked our boxes, we wondered how we would ever fill the space. Sure enough, a year later, we are utilizing every square inch. From the dedicated invitation design area where we showcase the best U.S letterpress design studios to the long working area where our dedicated staff spend tireless hours, almost every seat is taken. With boxes and bolts of fabric lying about, spare wedding favours and invitations waiting to be collected, how did we EVER manage in our previous office which was 1/4 of the size?!

This year, although we planned less than 20 weddings, we were busier than ever — highlights included a gorgeous 3-day wedding in idyllic Bali, a wedding luncheon at the Grand Hyatt Beijing, a beautiful wedding at the top of the Peak and of course our annual luxury wedding fair that we organize for InterContinental Hong Kong. We learnt some new tricks, met lots of new people, made some new friends and embraced a few challenges along the way (as anyone who has worked with a local Beijing florist may discover!).

Our team practically doubled — Sally joined mid-year followed by the return of Apple (what a relief!), and Annie No. 2 joined a few weeks ago as a trainee coordinator. We’ve also had Mark, our indispensable intern from a Swiss hospitality school helping out in a huge way for the past 5 months. Bonnie and Annie No. 1 round out the team and what a great team they are. Our huge office doesn’t seem so big anymore!

Looking forward, we have a three day Indian wedding to kick off the New Year followed by two glamorous weddings all before a very early Chinese New Year. We can then tackle the slew of enquiries we’ve had for end-2012 and get back to the patient couples who have emailed or called this past month.

May 2012 bring you all love and happiness.. see you in the New Year!
