4 Tips on How to Propose to your Girlfriend
June 9, 2019
Every now and again, we get a nervous groom on the phone or by email who wants to know if we can help plan the engagement proposal. Kudos to them to even admit they need help (we all know how hard that can be for some guys!) and so we thought we’d put a few suggestions out there to help these grooms-to-be along.
Proposal Tip #1: Stay true to yourself
Its hard enough to stay cool with the ring burning a hole in your pocket, imagine if you were even more out of comfort zone be it on a hike if you’re not a hiker , on a boat if you suffer from seasickness or dressed up to the nines in a fancy restaurant when you’d rather be in jeans and a t-shirt. She loves you for who you are, not who you pretend to be so stay true to yourself.
Proposal Tip #2: Remember Murphy’s Law!
The popular adage “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” applies to proposals too! Make sure you have thought your plan out carefully and have your back-ups ready, be it an umbrella for sudden downpours, a quick getaway if she says ‘no’ (just kidding) or a ready, well thought-out answer if you intend to surprise her with dinner or other plans!
Proposal Tip #3: Let others in on it
Rope in the concierge, the valet parker, her parents, anyone to make it easier for you. Deep down inside, most people are hopeless romantics and will be thrilled to help you execute your proposal plan. You do have a plan, right?
Proposal Tip #4: Book a photographer
In the excitement of it all, wouldn’t it be great if you had a hidden photographer pop out and snap a few photos just at the right time to capture the look of utter joy on her face? This usually works but you have to be fairly confident that she will say ‘yes’!
